DESCRIPTION:
Dell Precision 620 Workstation - Please be Patient While the images load i ahve included quite a few as it is easier to describe tat way ;)
This system is in full working order, one of the SCSI drives failed on the raid and rather than replace it the IT department decided to replace the machine.
The remaining drive has a very slight bearing noise, though i would think the drives would be replaced with larger capacity ones. The machine comes with a windows 2000 professional license though the install itself has been wiped from the machine due to company privacy policy.
This machine runs two slot Xeon 1GHz processors, this is all i know as i do not wish to remove them from the machine.
The machine is a high enough spec for an entry level file server for a start up company, it was being used to model gas flow and growth rates of semiconductor epitaxial layers before it was decommissioned.
The graphics card though not capable of running the lattest games, is capable of running AutoCAD, and does have a DVI connector for use of a secondary or digital display.
As can be seen from the images the RAM (RAMBUS RIMM's) are seated on two riser cards that can be easily removed for upgrade purposes, a quick search on ebay revealed that the RAM alone (1GB 4x256 RIMM's) are worth around £70 alone.
I have powered the machine up, Posts fine, all RAM/Processors/Drives detected, also checked out the BIOS, quite a lot in there so did not mess in case i screwed something up as i did not plan on using it myself.
As you can see from the images this machine is housed in an awesome case that is very user friendly when upgrading/maintaining, all items can be removed on slide rails, and clips, total disassemble takes all of 2 minutes, they dont make cases like this anymore, though this was a very high spec machine when it was purchased.
